Dick Gould
Greene County Commissioner Candidate

Campaign Portrait Cropped.jpg

I am proud to be a longtime Greene County resident, having grown up and graduated from Fairborn High School. My commitment to public service began early, serving 12 years as a Fairborn Police Officer, where I learned firsthand the importance of safety, accountability, and community trust.

While serving as an officer, I earned my Master of Accountancy degree from Miami University and later became a Certified Public Accountant. I went on to work with both international and local public accounting firms and later operated an internationally franchised real estate brokerage. These experiences have provided me with a strong foundation in finance, business, and economic development.

In 2011, I was honored to be appointed and later elected as Greene County Treasurer, where I managed a $130 million investment portfolio with a focus on safety, liquidity, and return. I currently serve as your Greene County Commissioner, first elected in 2018 and re-elected in 2022. It has been a privilege to continue serving our community in this role.

I have lived in several Greene County communities, including Fairborn and Beavercreek, and now reside in Xenia Township with my wife, Cindy. I am deeply involved in our community, having served as past President of both the Fairborn and Beavercreek Rotary Clubs. I have been an active member of the Fairborn, Beavercreek, and Xenia Chambers of Commerce for many years. In recent years I have become active in additional Chambers throughout the county. I also serve on the Board of Directors and Finance Committee of the Greater Dayton YMCA, as First Vice-President of the Miami Valley Regional Planning Commission, and on the Board of Directors for the County Commissioners Association of Ohio.

As Commissioner, I have prioritized responsible fiscal management and economic growth. Property taxes are out of control and I am working to reduce them. This year, the County reduced its real estate tax rate by 20%, or $3.2 million, to help ease the burden on homeowners.  I have worked with state legislators to secure an increase of more than 23% in the owner occupancy tax credit in future years, providing additional relief to homeowners.

Creating and retaining jobs remains a top priority. During my time in office, our economic development efforts have directly retained more than 1,000 jobs and created over 1,000 new positions—many of them high-paying, technical careers. Even through Covid, Greene County has added more than 5,300 jobs during that time.

I am committed to continuing this work—finding ways to lower taxes, supporting job growth, and ensuring Greene County remains a strong, vibrant place to live, work, and raise a family. I would be honored to continue serving you as your County Commissioner.
